Some easy, inexpensive hacks for easier gardening.
1. Remove salt residue from terracotta pot by applying 1 part white vinegar/1 part rubbing alcohol/1 part water to outside of pot. Let sit for several minutes and rinse pot.
2. Keep those fingernails clean by scratching a bar of soap prior to gardening. The soap will stick under your fingernails and prevent dirt from geting under the nails. Wash hands after gardening.
3. Use bungee cords to hold extra large plastic trash bags in place on trash can. Those extra large heavy duty bags are great for garden clean up, but a pain when trying to fill. Cords will hold the bags in place and prevent them from collapsing inward.
4. Keep the water you use to boil vegetables. Let the water cool and place in watering can or bucket and use in the garden. The residual vitamins and minerals promote healthy growth and maximize fruit production.
5. Use milk crates to make a vertical composter. Directions HERE.
Happy smarter gardening!
